The original Ginger Necktar was developed over ten years ago by Lois Vickery-Hall, a local Byron Bay mother who was concerned about her children’s future, the values they would adopt, and particularly (like many other mothers) their health and nutrition.

Originally developed as a homemade drink for Lois’ Café, Ginger Necktar then became popular with customers of a few local stores and the word quickly spread. It is now manufactured in our purpose built factory in the Byron Bay Arts and Industry Estate.

Ginger Necktar is the leading locally made drink in the Byron Bay region, and due to demand from visitors who want to drink it once they get home, it is now available in a growing number of stockists in NSW, QLD and VIC.

Surprisingly, this growth has been achieved with a minimum of marketing - the demand has spread through word of mouth recommendations. Instead of spending considerable amounts on marketing, we focus our resources on producing the healthiest and freshest drinks possible, at an affordable price. In fact, we have only had this website since late 2008, mainly due to people wanting to know where they can buy our drinks.

This strategy of focusing on the product and letting the sales look after themselves has been a successful one to date. We are able to maintain this focus as we are a private company, and don’t get distracted by shareholders or the interests of corporate owners.

This focus on freshness and quality means that you will not be able to buy our products at major supermarket chains like Coles or Woolworths. Instead of delivering cartons to our stockists, we stack their fridges. As our drinks have a shelf life of four weeks, we work with our stockists to optimize these stock levels so that customers get the freshest drinks possible.

Our plans for the future include wider availability and more quality products. We are progressively increasing the number of stockists, as well as the areas they are located in. As our drinks require refrigerated transport, these will be in the major centres of the Eastern States. We’ll be updating the list of stockists every three months or so to let you know where you can buy our drinks.
